CONGRATULATIONS BILLY CORNISH – POLICE & CRIME COMMISSIONER’S KNIFE ANGEL ART COMPETITION WINNER!
CONGRATULATIONS BILLY CORNISH – POLICE & CRIME COMMISSIONER’S KNIFE ANGEL ART COMPETITION WINNER!
Well done to Chauncy student Billy Cornish (7 ROWAN), who has won Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Ash-Edwards’ Knife Angel Art Competition.
The Knife Angel is a national monument made of over 100,000 knives surrendered to police services across Britain, serving as a stark and emotive reminder of the dangers and impact of knife crime.
One of his key priorities as Commissioner is to give our young people a voice on policing and the safety of young people across Hertfordshire. The Knife Angel will raise awareness of the devastating impact knife crime can have on young people, and he wanted to use the medium of art for young people to express how they feel about the monument, knife crime and their perceptions of violence.
Both Ellie Cornell (7 MAPLE) and Billy Cornish (7 ROWAN) created moving pieces and were shortlisted to a final three entries. Their work was displayed on the Commissioner’s website, and the public voted for their favourite artwork throughout December.
Well done to Ellie for an excellent piece of artwork, but it was Billy who was announced the overall winner.
Jonathan Ash-Edwards visited Chauncy School on Monday, 19th January 2026, to meet Billy and his teacher, Hannah Delamain and see his Knife Angel-inspired sculpture displayed in our Art Gallery.
