PE AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR SPORT
The PE curriculum in Year Seven consists of Rugby, Swimming, Basketball, Table Tennis, Athletics, Cricket, Gymnastics, Netball, Rounders, Tennis, Football and Badminton.
As students progress through school they will also be able to spend time on a variety of activities including Outdoor Education, Trampolining, Water Polo, Personal Survival & Fitness training.
There will be opportunities for Year Seven students to try out many new sports, or improve at familiar ones, in the many before-school, lunchtime and after-school clubs.
Chauncy students regularly represent the school in competitions against other schools in many sports and some represent the District, County and even Great Britain in their chosen sport.
Chauncy’s reputation as a sports school of excellence within the area is growing, particularly with the senior side winning the National Basketball Championships and several teams winning district and county tournaments in previous years.
Students may have the opportunity to, officiate, coach and help manage teams and we encourage them to become involved with local clubs. In addition to the large number and variety of clubs and teams, there are regular sporting activities to take part in, for example:
- Pupils have the opportunity to run tournaments for primary school pupils through the Sports Leadership Awards
- Competitions against other schools
- Competitions within the school (inter-house sessions three times a year)
- Charity events – such as Sport Relief
- School Ski Trip
- JCA Football weekends
- PGL netball weekends
- PGL girls football weekends
The current list of extra-curricular clubs and activities can be found here: Autumn Term Clubs and Activities 2024
