AUTHOR VISIT: JONATHON STROUD – MONDAY 3RD OCTOBER 2022

We will be welcoming the author Johnathan Stroud to Chauncy School on Monday 3rd October 2022 to host a workshop with Year Seven students.

Jonathan is an award-winning writer of children’s and young adult fiction. He will be talking to the children about how he sculpts his landscapes – from the rules which form his worlds, how a small

alteration to normal life can create enormous potential for action, how he creates monsters and tension, and how he is endlessly inspired by maps. How does he dream up characters, why do some readers fall in love, and conversely, loathe, the characters in his books?

The Children can Immerse themselves in the process of writing and learn how Jonathan transforms his notes and middle-of-the-night-scribbles into scenes, chapters, plot twists and culminations.

Jonathan will give them his top creative writing tips, and will show what life is really like as a professional writer.

We will have a book signing at the end with an opportunity to purchase a signed copy of Jonathon’s latest book. Cash and card payments will be accepted on the day and books will retail with a 10% discount at £7.20, usually £7.99.
