CHAUNCY SCHOOL JUNE UPDATE – 1ST JUNE 2026

A monthly review of May at Chauncy School with Headteacher Steve Walton. This month, we update you on the changes to our school uniform in September 2026, our Mobile Phone Policy, saying good luck and goodbye to our Year Eleven and Thirteen exam groups, and a fond farewell to Learning Coordinator Hayley Derrick. An update on our resident duck family, celebration of our outstanding Duke of Edinburgh provision, the Year Nine DoE expedition, UK Mathematical Challenge awards, and participation in the Herts for Learning Maths Challenge competition. Scientist of the Month Kacey-Jo (9 Birch), Year Seven, pH rainbow experiments, along with a forensic crime scene mystery for Year Twelve to solve in the Schools’ Analyst Competition. A busy month in the Food Room with Year Ten burgers, Year Twelve ‘chips and dips’, and Victoria Sponge cakes being created by our talented sixth form bakers. Year Seven students are starting their 3D sculpture projects as well as activities supporting Mental Health Awareness Week across the school. We advertise our Dance Showcase event on 25th June 2026, along with a new touch Rugby club held on Wednesdays, after school. We update you on Chauncy Awards and attendance for May, and in our sports report, we focus on footballing success for students past and present, along with rounders and cricket reports. This month’s Friday Sessions Artist is Will Welch (9 ROWAN), who performs Slide Away by Oasis.
