CHAUNCY NEWS UPDATE – JUNE 2015

Staff Vacancies: We seem to have been very successful in recruiting the teachers we need for September. We are still looking for a Music teacher.  We are also advertising for trainee teachers in a range of subjects as we are a registered Schools Direct Training School. These posts are in addition to our usuual staffing.

Funding Update: If you have read my last blog on school funding you may like to know that Hertfordshire headteachers will be lobbying their MPs at the House of Commons on July 1st.

Exams: 105 Year 11s spent Saturday morning at a 3 hour” Super Saturday” of Maths revision with 7 unpaid teachers. “Saucy Saturday” for History students is on Saturday 13th June from 9.30 to 12.30. Meanwhile, Year 10 are taking Science GCSSEs and Year 9s finish their Statistics studies with their final exam. The sixth formers are well into their AS and A Level exams. Student attendance and conduct has been exemplary and I am confident that student and staff efforts will be well rewarded when the results come out in August.

Sports Hall update: We are hoping that East Herts Planning Committee will consider our application on Wednesday 24th June. Thank you to the 153 East Herts residents who supported the proposal online and to those who have written letters of support. We have addressed every planning point and have the Secretary of State’s support for the project. Come along on the 24th if you are around.
